SMS nonwoven fabrics are created through a sophisticated three-step process facilitated by specialized spunbonded machinery:
Spunbonding:
The process begins with the formation of a spunbonded web. Continuous filaments of polypropylene or other thermoplastic materials are extruded and laid down onto a conveyor belt in a random arrangement. The resulting web is then bonded together through heat and pressure, creating a strong and uniform base layer.
Meltblowing:
In the second step, the spunbonded web undergoes the meltblowing process. Micro-sized fibers are created by extruding melted thermoplastic material through fine nozzles at high velocity. Spunbonding (Again):
